The book The Electronic Chart introduces the subject and explains the basic fundamentals that make up an ECDIS. It describes the primary functions of ECDIS and its practical use, and details the means and process for providing the electronic chart data required to use ECDIS worldwide. The book also discusses the need for and the primary objectives and contents of ECDIS training, and describes key aspects of ECDIS beyond practical use.
World ECDIS Day
|This year, the first open international event World ECDIS Day will take place in Hamburg, Germany. On 16 September 2015, World ECDIS Day will bring together more than 300 stakeholders who have played or are playing an important role in the history of marine electronic navigation.|
The goal of this non-profit initiative is to get-together individuals engaged in the e-Navigation industry.ECDIS related discussions, seminars, workshops and test labs will be open for everyone all day long according to the World ECDIS Day programme listed on the dedicated webpage.
In addition, during the evening event the day will be completed with a special ECDIS award ceremony with categories: ‘Best ECDIS Implementation of 2015′, ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ and ‘Innovation Award’.
